Russia harvests 5.8 million tonnes grains

As of July 4, Russia produced 5.8 million tonnes of grains throughout the areas of 2.1 million hectares, with the average yield of 27.6 centner/hectare, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation reported.

To date the regions of the Southern, the North Caucasian, Central and Volga Federal Districts provide the harvesting campaign of grains and leguminous crops.

Besides, agrarians of Krasnodar and Stavropol Krais, the Republics of Adygea and North Ossetia-Alania started harvesting winter rapeseed. As of July 4, the regions harvested the oilseed throughout 14,800 hectares, and produced 17,300 tonnes of the oilseed with the yield of 11.7 centner/hectare.

The Ministry of Agriculture noted that due to dry weather conditions prevailing in the two to three decades of May 2012, the conditions for forming of the harvest of grains, leguminous plants and other agricultural crops significantly worsened, leading to reduction of the yield indices compared to the ones in the beginning of the last year harvest campaign.
