Brazil's June beef exports lift 7.3%
Brazil in June exported 96,400 tonnes of beef, 7.3% more than the 89,900 tonnes shipped in the same month last year and also 6.7% more than in May, according to the Foreign Trade Department (Secex).
In revenue, beef sales increased 33% versus a year before, to US$384.2 million. Compared to May, revenue was up 7.1%.
The average price for Brazil's exported beef was US$3,985 per tonne, up 23.8% on-year and up a slight 0.4% versus May.
Chicken exports last month totalled 307,300 tonnes, up 1.8% compared to June 2009 and 5.9% higher than in May. Revenue climbed 11% on-year, to US$509.1 million.
The average chicken price in June was US$1,656 per tonne, up 9% on-year and 2.2% higher than in May.
Pork exports, on the other hand, were 13% lower in June than a year earlier, at 41,300 tonnes. Pork brought in US$108.4 million last month, compared to US$94.6 million in June last year and US$107.6 million in May. The average price for pork in June was US$1,992 per tonne.
