EU Steps In To Promote UK Beef

Beef promotion in the UK has been given a boost with a European grant worth more than £730,000.

It will be the eighth year since 1993 that the EU has pumped funds into the UK, following an application by the Meat and Livestock Commission on behalf of the English Beef and Lamb Executive (Eblex).

The money, to be match funded by the UK organisations involved, will be used to promote quality beef through consumer advertising, public relations, overseas shows and exhibitions such as the SIAL Show in Paris and education by promoting beef as part of a healthy diet with schools and healthcare professionals.

Quality Meat Scotland will use £125,000 of the money for a separate campaign.
