Fish production in Zimbabwe rose to 33,000 metric tons in past 1.5 years
Zimbabwe's fish output has increased from 20,000 metric tonnes to 33,000 metric tonnes annually during the past 1.5 years.
The increase is a result of the Zimbabwean government's Agriculture, Food Systems, and Rural Transformation Strategy, reported ZBC News, a partner of TV BRICS.
Additionally, on the aspect of supporting domestic food consumption, Zimbabwe's Presidential Fisheries Scheme seeks to provide household access to reasonably priced protein. The scheme will also help promote trade by selling excess output.
Davis Marapira, Deputy Minister of Zimbabwe's Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, said that over the next five years, the nation's fish production is anticipated to rise further, based on official projections.
