Cambodia bans poultry imports from bird-flu affected neighbouring countries
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered the country's agriculture ministry to stop all imports of poultry products from neighbouring countries facing bird flu outbreaks.
The ban took effect last July 1 during the fifth National Fishery Day in Takeo province. The prime minister has asked agriculture, forestry and fisheries minister Chan Sarun to halt all imports of poultry, eggs, egg-made products and frozen chicken to ensure Cambodians of its safety against the dreaded disease.
Bird flu has killed six Cambodians so far.
