India gets seven bids for 1 million tonnes wheat in import tender
India has received seven bids in an import tender for 1 million tonnes of wheat, a government official said Wednesday (Jul 4).
The bids received were in the range of US$320-370/tonne, said the official.
Glencore, Concordia, Toepfer and Cargill were some of the companies that participated in the tender.
India previously cancelled a tender to import 1 million tonnes of wheat in May, as prices were too high.
The country plans to import some 5 million tonnes of wheat to build up its stocks.
