Chinese delegation discusses livestock sector collaboration with Punjab, India

A delegation from China recently met with Masood Anwar, the secretary of livestock in Punjab, India.

Both parties discussed avenues for collaboration in the livestock sector including meat exports to China, according to Gwadar Pro. The delegation also expressed the desire to cooperate with the Punjab government in other areas including disease control, genomics and breed improvement. Additionally, it sought for land and facilities for producing veterinary vaccines, the Punjab Livestock Department stated on June 27.

Anwar welcomed proposals to set up special beef and dairy economic zones.

He also added that proposals to collaborate with Chinese experts in controlling foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and other animal illnesses are under consideration.
