Thailand aims to export more fruits and fishery products to Japan

Thailand's Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister, Thira Sutabutr said the country would aim to export more summer fruits and fishery products to Japan.

Thira was speaking at the 120th Anniversary of Japan-Thailand Diplomatic Relation 2007. Thira said the celebration accentuates the bilateral trade and investment between both countries and noted that the two countries have worked together in the fishery and livestock sectors for 120 years.

Thira said Thailand is currently exporting THB 110 billion (US$3.5 billion) worth of goods to Japan annually and the figure would rise further once Japanese inspections of Thailand's production facilities have been completed.

The Japan-Thailand Economic Partnership Agreement (JTEPA) signed between the two countries would benefit Thailand's farmers and producers immensely, he said.
