Minh Phu Seafood opens US$57 million shrimp processing plant in Vietnam's Ca Mau with 35,000-tonne annual capacity

The facility is the sixth processing plant for one of Vietnam's top shrimp exporters, adding highly automated production lines as Ca Mau targets further growth in its US$2.4 billion seafood export sector.

Minh Phu Seafood JSC has inaugurated its Minh Phu Khanh An processing plant in Ca Mau Province, representing an investment of VND1.5 trillion (US$57 million) and a designed annual capacity of 35,000 metric tonnes, making it the company's sixth processing facility.

The plant covers 4.95 hectares at Khanh An Industrial Park and includes a 24,500-square-metre production facility expected to employ more than 5,000 workers. Grading, colour sorting and shelling processes are fully automated, while the nobashi shrimp stretching line operates at 70-80% automation.

Chu Thi Binh, Chairwoman of Minh Phu Seafood JSC, said the facility is designed to be among Vietnam's most modern seafood processing plants, combining improved productivity with better working conditions. The plant is intended to serve as a stable procurement outlet for shrimp farms in Ca Mau and neighbouring provinces, strengthening the upstream supply chain linkage for the company's export operations.

Minh Phu Seafood contributed more than US$542 million in exports in 2025 and employs over 13,000 workers. Ca Mau Province's total seafood exports reached US$2.4 billion in 2025, cementing its position as one of Vietnam's leading seafood processing hubs.
