De Heus and Hung Nhon sign net-zero MOU as Big Dutchman commits EUR100 million to Vietnam's Tay Ninh province

The agreements, signed during a European investment tour in late June, set a 2036 target for full fossil fuel phase-out across existing operations and anchor a 2036 production goal of US$2 billion in annual revenue.

Vietnam's Hung Nhon Group has signed two major partnership agreements during a European investment promotion trip, including a green transition MOU with De Heus targeting net-zero emissions by 2050 and a EUR100 million (US$109 million) strategic cooperation agreement with Big Dutchman AG for livestock projects in Vietnam's Tay Ninh province between 2026 and 2036.

The MOU between Hung Nhon and De Heus, signed on 23 June in the Netherlands, sets out a joint programme to transition existing operations fully away from fossil fuels by 2036, replacing them with solar power and compressed natural gas. The two companies will also develop greenhouse gas inventories, pursue international certifications including ISO 50001, ISO 14001 and ISO 14068-1:2023, and advance circular economy practices including wastewater reuse and livestock by-product recycling. Gabor Fluit, Global Chief Executive Officer of De Heus, confirmed the company's continued commitment to Hung Nhon and Tay Ninh province in building a modern, low-emissions production chain.

The long-term production targets underpinning the Hung Nhon-De Heus chain are scaled to reach 200 million parent stock birds, 25 million export broilers and 10,000 grandparent sows, with combined annual revenue of approximately US$2 billion by 2036.

The Big Dutchman agreement, signed on 25 June in Germany, covers equipment supply, technology solutions, environmental treatment systems and advanced technical solutions for large-scale livestock projects in Tay Ninh, with a combined project value of approximately EUR100 million (US$109 million) over the 2026-2036 period. Specific projects include a 3-million-bird layer farm system, a 1-million-bird pullet farm and a 25-million-bird broiler operation, all to international standards. The signing marked the 20th anniversary of cooperation between Hung Nhon and Big Dutchman.

The European trip also included a working session with Bel Ga in Belgium, which supplies high-quality poultry genetics to the Hung Nhon-De Heus-Bel Ga integrated chain. Boehringer Ingelheim and French biotech company Olmix were also confirmed as continuing strategic partners, covering animal health and biological solutions respectively.

Vu Manh Hung, Chairman of Hung Nhon Group, said the series of long-term agreements with European partners demonstrated confidence in both the group's capabilities and the broader development potential of Vietnam's livestock industry.
