Ukraine grain supply to reach 51 million tonnes in 2009-10
Ukraine's Agriculture Policy Ministry expects total grain supply, including the carryover of 2008, to reach 51 million tonnes in the 2009-10 marketing year, said Agriculture Policy Minister Yuriy Melnyk.
The new marketing year starts July 2009 and ends at June 2010.
Melnyk said grain harvest in 2009 will account for 42 million to 43 million tonnes, in compliance with preliminary forecasts of the ministry.
Grain exports in 2008 amounted to about 24 million tonnes in compliance with the ministry's calculations, the minister said.
In early June, the ministry lowered the grain outlook by 10.4 to 12.5 percent, or five or six million tonnes, to 42 to 43 million tonnes.
