Pakistan Takes Steps To Keep Prices Of Wheat Under Control

 

Pakistani Prime Minister Ch. Shujaat Hussain reviewed the wheat situation in the country at a high level meeting held at the Prime Minister's House Thursday.

 

The Prime Minister said that immediate steps should be taken to keep the prices of wheat under control. It was decided that the import of one million tonnes wheat would be expedited to keep as a buffer stock. The Prime Minister directed that 5 lac tonnes wheat be imported urgently and the remaining 5 lac tones be imported later.

 

The Prime Minister directed that necessary transparency should be observed in the import of wheat.

 

The Prime Minister also directed the provincial governments and the district governments to keep a close vigil and control on the prices of essential commodities, and that no body should be allowed to exploit the situation.
