EFL AG-DATA: Vietnam swine - Hog prices stabilise as market searches for direction (week ended June 12, 2026)

Vietnam's swine market remained relatively stable during the week following the sharp decline seen in late May and early June.

Live hog supply was generally sufficient across most regions, while demand from slaughterhouses and traders improved only gradually.

Market participants remained cautious as hog prices sought a new equilibrium after recent volatility, although restocking interest continued due to expectations of stable profitability in the second half of the year.

Fattening pig prices increased slightly to ₫66,000–68,000/kg (US$2.55–2.63) from ₫65,000–67,000/kg (US$2.51–2.59) the previous week, supported mainly by firmer demand in northern provinces.

Piglet prices eased to ₫2.30–2.42 million/head (US$88.80–93.40) from ₫2.35–2.48 million/head (US$90.70–95.71) as some producers slowed restocking activities.

Breeding stock prices remained largely stable, with conceivable sows at ₫20.2–21.0 million/head (US$779.92–810.81) and gilts at ₫16.7–17.2 million/head (US$644.79–664.09).
