China's ASF-linked farming crisis could end soon, Anpario chief executive says
China's farming crisis - due to the ongoing African swine fever crisis in the country - is expected to alleviate "as the year progresses," said Anpario's chief executive Richard Edwards at the company's recent annual general meeting.
"...with pig prices now at record high levels, Chinese farmers are beginning to restock. We expect other regions such as Latin America to benefit by satisfying the production shortfalls in China," Edwards added.
He also revealed other developments concerning Anpario, an international producer of natural feed additives. For instance, Anpario Direct, the company's new online platform, has launched in the UK and is targeting smaller farm enterprises and niche segments like equine and game birds. The platform has received its first sales and "the focus now is to drive website traffic through innovative direct and online marketing techniques, supported by (Anpario's) existing account management teams," Edwards explained.
Commenting on Anpario's financial position Edwards said: "Our strong balance sheet is reflected in the current cash balance of over GBP13 million (US$16.5 million) and makes the company well placed to invest if the short-term industry problems offer opportunities for acquisitions or provide a platform from which to continue to make profitable progress."
