The Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee (SSC) informs that in May meat production made up 24,700 tonnes, a 6.5% rise on-year.

Last year meat production totalled 305,100 tonnes, exceeding the production in 2008 by 0.8%.

As of April 1, 2010, the country's cattle stock increased by 1.7% on-year to 2.618 million head, but pig stock data was not published.

During Jan-May 2010, Azerbaijan produced 601,900 tonnes of milk, a 4.6% increase against 2009 levels while egg production in Jan-May this year totalled 508.6 million, a rise of 0.7% on the same period last year, the committee said.
