Iranian poultry farmers report feed shortage
The Iran Chicken Farmers Union said about 7,000 farmers have been affected by the low supplies and increased costs of poultry feed, the Financial Tribune Iran reported.
Parviz Foroughi, secretary of the Iran Chicken Farmers Union said many poultry farmers in the country have become bankrupt because of the high feed prices in the past few months, resulting in surging chicken prices.
In May, the union said broiler chicken producers have been forced to procure half their requirements at higher, open market rates because of low poultry feed supplies at subsidised cost.
