Russia's 2005-2006 grain export increases 37 percent
Russia's grain export in the 2005-2006 marketing year, which ends Friday, totaled 12.5 million tonnes compared with 9.1 million tonnes in the previous marketing year, marking a 37 percent increase, the government press service reported Thursday (Jun 29).
Agriculture Minister Alexey Gordeyev said more than half the exported grain was handled by Russia's Black sea ports in the Rostov region.
In 2005 Russia harvested 78.1 million tonnes of grain, almost the same level as in 2004.
