South Africa forecasts 5.7% increase in corn harvest for 2022/2023 season

Data from South Africa's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) showed that South African farmers are projected to achieve a 5.7% boost in corn production for the upcoming 2022/2023 season compared to the previous season, MoneyWeb reported.
In its third summer crop forecast, the CEC predicts a total harvest of 16.35 million tonnes, surpassing the 15.47 million tonnes gathered in the previous season.
The anticipated harvest comprises 8.64 million tonnes of white corn, which is primarily consumed by humans, and 7.72 million tonnes of yellow corn, predominantly used in animal feed.
