Ukraine, US expand cooperation in agriculture
The US and Ukraine are going to expand its cooperation in the agriculture, including bilateral trade of agricultural products and equipment for the agricultural sector.
Moreover, in the nearest future the US may licence Ukrainian grain supplies to the US market. This was discussed on Wednesday (Jun 26) at a meeting by Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food and John Tefft, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Ukraine.
Opening the meeting, Mykola Prysyazhnyuk has emphasised the efficiency and effectiveness of cooperation between Ukraine and the US in the agricultural sector. "I believe that joint efforts gave us the results in the agriculture that we currently have. I would like to say that during my working visit to Washington, I had several meetings with potential investors. They expressed their willingness to develop large-scale investment projects in Ukraine. I am convinced that this is a positive signal," said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
The Minister has added that the US will soon decide the issues of Ukrainian grain supplies to the US market. According to him, it will be an important recognition of cereal standards for Ukraine.
In turn, John Tefft thanked for long cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector. He stressed that cooperation in this area is promising, including agricultural products and equipment for farmers. It should be mentioned that that the agricultural products trade between Ukraine and the US in 2012 amounted to US$353.05 million. It is US$120.4 million more against 2011. For the three months of 2013 agricultural trade between Ukraine and the US totalled US$126.09 million that is US$29.09 million more than in the same period of 2012.
