Disinfection measures against ASF to be taken at Livestock Taiwan Expo 2019

Following the cancellation of trade events by other organisers this year, the organiser for Livestock Taiwan Expo 2019, Informa Markets, is gearing up to take preventive measures with the installation of disinfection sprays at the entrance of the exhibition hall, as well as providing a African swine fever (ASF) guidance for international visitors.

Taiwan Livestock Expo & Forum brings together more than 15,000 buyers every year. The annual B2B trading platform will be held at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from October 31 to November 2.

"Livestock trade shows are suffering from the pressures of ASF impact worldwide. However, we believe there are missions that Livestock Taiwan can help industrial players to optimise biosecurity in. The three-day event assists stakeholders to upgrade farm management in regard to disease control and biosecurity. To further protect the livestock industry, we would also take action to equip disinfection sprays onsite and distribute ASF notifications to all of our visitors and buyers," highlights Sabine Liu of Informa Markets.

A wide variety of relevant farming solutions would be showcased. Youngya International, a Taiwan exhibitor, will introduce an AI monitoring system, providing a "total solution" from remote environmental control to big data collection to keep biosecurity on hand.

Animal diet is also an important aspect of reducing biosecurity risks. The rising demand for eco-friendly feed additives is led by the global trend of antibiotic reduction and elimination in farming. More than 50 categories of functional feed additives will be showcased at the area of Nutrition and Healthcare and is expected to generate about US$2 million in sales transactions, according to the show organiser.

The show is segmented into four thematic areas: Breeding and Genetics; Circular Economy; Nutrition and Healthcare; and Smart Farming Equipment.
