H5N1 bird flu kills wild birds in Russia
Russian veterinary officials confirmed to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) that deaths of a number of wild birds recently was due to H5N1 highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).
The Russian veterinary authority sent the Immediate Notification dated 24 June to the OIE.
It reports that 58 wild birds found dead on 11 June at a lake at Ubsu-Nur in Tyva Republic had died from H5N1 HPAI. Tyva Republic is in the far south of Siberia, bordering Mongolia.
