Estonia's May purchase prices of mutton, goat meat down 15%
Estonia's purchase price of mutton and goat meat changed the most in May, down 15.3% to EUR2.44 (US$3.06) per kilogramme, as shown by an on month comparison of meat purchase prices, Statistics Estonia reports.
On year, the purchase price of mutton and goat meat was 2.9% higher last month.
The average purchase price of beef climbed 13.3% in annual comparison and 1.9% on-month to EUR2.1 (US$2.63) per kilogramme.
A kilogramme of pork cost an average of EUR1.74 (US$2.18), up by 2.9% compared to May 2011 and 1.1% compared to the previous month.
In May, meat processing companies bought 36,400 pigs, 2,500 head of cattle and 300 sheep and goats. A year earlier the corresponding figures were respectively 30,300, 2,600 and 300.
