Ukraine cattle numbers down; pigs, poultry, goats up
The number of cattle in Ukraine on June 1 totalled 5.803 million a fall of 4.4 percent compared with June 1, 2008, the state statistics committee said Wednesday (June 24).
The total included 2.892 million cows, a fall of 6.5 percent compared with June 1, 2008.
The number of pigs in the country on the date totalled 7.083 million, 6.1 percent more than a year ago.
The number of poultry totalled 196 million, 6.8 percent more than on June 1, 2008.
The number of sheep and goats in the country on the date was 2.155 million, 3.3 percent more than a year ago.
