India's Haryana state to promote aquaculture

 

 

India's state of Haryana would set up new fish mandis (wholesale markets) at two locations to provide marketing facilities to the state's fish farmers, the Haryana fisheries Deputy Director Dharam Singh Bharti said.

 

The department also has plans to modernise fish seed farms was also being implemented so that fish farmers could increase production, he added.

 

The farmers were being given training on new techniques of fish farming such as the poly culture and mono culture methods. Under poly culture, fish varieties such as Jhinga, Katla and Rahu fish would be farmed whereas only Jhinga fish production would involved in the Monoculture method.
