Mortality rates at Pakistan's poultry farms increase with rising temperature
The scorching heat in Pakistan has been causing mortality rates to increase at poultry farms and 3.5 million chicks, layers and broilers have died so far. In Sindh alone as many as 700,000-800,000 broilers died during the last two days, while there are reports that 250,000 to 300,000 layer birds have died in Karachi.
Though the prices of poultry birds have not increased yet, its impact will likely be felt in the next few weeks as the demand for chicken is now on the decline throughout the country.
