Vilofoss unveils SeaFoss additive for better handling of slurry

Vilofoss has introduced SeoFoss, a slurry additive that enables easier handling of slurry and improves the yield per hectare.

The 100% natural product makes the slurry more homogenous. With Seafoss, sediments and floating crusts are easier to mix. There is also an improvement in the flow in the slurry channels. SeoFoss binds ammonia and therefore reduces smell.

"Managing slurry in stables and slurry channels may represent a major challenge," Vilofoss said. "It takes a lot of energy and time to pump and stir the slurry, and sometimes the channels can end up being blocked."

SeoFoss can be used in organic production.

SEGES trials (average 2016-2018) showed that an additional 140kg of wheat per hectare can be gained with the use of SeoFoss. It has been demonstrated that SeoFoss binds additional ammonium nitrogen, thus increasing yield per hectare with 140kg of wheat. With the current prices of wheat, this ensures a multiplied return of invest, according to Vilofoss.

Additionally, the improved utilisation of nitrogen has a positive impact on the environment.

A trial test in Germany shows that SeoFoss helps the slurry from store cattle to become significantly more homogeneous and less viscous. There is also a near absence of deposits and a dried-up floating crust. Pumping and stirring of the slurry is, therefore, substantially improved. This saves money and time in connection with the pumping of slurry into the slurry tank as well as in connection with mixing before spreading.
