Hanoi becomes blue-ear epidemic-free
Hanoi's suburban districts are now under control as of June 23 after it has been afflicted with the blue-ear pig disease, according to the Hanoi Animal Health Department.
There have been no new epidemic areas detected for 10 days. The remaining infected pigs in the districts of Gia Lam, Dong Anh, Thuong Tin, and Me Linh are under treatment.
However, there are still fears of the disease to break out again as there will be more heat waves by the end of this summer, officials said.
It is, therefore, very necessary for breeding facilities to be decontaminated and for pigs to be inoculated against the disease.
