Scotland's Fusion Marine targets Norway

Scottish fish farm equipment manufacturer Fusion Marine is seeking a partner in Norway as part of a new drive to spearhead sales of its successful Triton salmon cage in the Norwegian market.

The large diameter Triton has already been successful for offshore tuna farming, with the cages having been used for a number of years in Chile, the Mediterranean and Australia.

The Triton SL version has also been specifically developed for salmon farming, with a number of Scottish farms currently using the system.

Triton is made from three thick-walled 400 millimetres (mm) or 450mm polyethylene pipes, designed to resist impact and reduce distortion in stormy offshore conditions. Managing director Stephen Divers said fish farm companies in Norway are well aware of the huge benefits of all plastic polyethylene cages.

This ensures maximum stock bio-security by significantly reducing risks on exposed or open sea sites. Triton also features specially designed anti-slip safety decking. The cage is also available in a two-pipe configuration for less demanding environments.

Divers said working in tandem with a Norwegian partner will make fish farmers in the country aware to try Triton.
