Poultry meat top choice in Italy

About 50.5 percent of Italians prefer poultry meat, mainly chicken and turkey, to other meats, according to a consumer study conducted by the Italian national union of poultry breeders UNA.

About 46 percent of respondents who preferred poultry meat said they chose it because it is light food and easily digested, while 18 percent consider it to be healthy food. About 9.5 percent chose poultry meat because it is versatile in food preparation.

The study also showed that about 42 percent of respondents prefer chicken or turkey breast meat.

Consumers are getting more health-conscious nowadays, preferring to eat low-fat food with less calories but contains proteins and is tasty as well, according to UNA chairman Aldo Muraro.
