Vietnam's Viet Nhat Group and BaiYang VN build integrated tilapia export chain with BAP-certified feed

The partnership is constructing a VND1,000 billion processing plant in Thai Binh as Vietnam's tilapia export value approaches US$100 million for 2025.
Viet Nhat Group and BaiYang VN Food Co., Ltd. are building an integrated tilapia value chain in Vietnam spanning breeding stock, feed, farming areas, processing and export, as the country's tilapia export value is projected to reach nearly US$100 million in 2025.
The companies have commenced construction of a tilapia processing plant for export to Europe and the United States, with total investment of VND1,000 billion (approximately US$39.2 million). The BaiYang VN facility, located in Tien Hai Industrial Park, Dong Chau commune, will have a phase one capacity of 150 tonnes per day and is intended to serve as a processing hub connecting raw material areas with export markets.
Under the linkage model, participating farms and cooperatives are assessed for infrastructure, water sources and production capability before signing contracts that define each party's rights and responsibilities. Farmers receive technical support, management training and production guidance aligned with market demand, while the companies build a stable, traceable raw material supply meeting processing and export requirements.
Viet Nhat Group has achieved Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification for its aquaculture feed production plant, one of a limited number of Vietnamese aquafeed manufacturers to do so. Farms within the supply chain use feed produced from US soybeans certified under the Sustainable Soy Assurance Protocol (SSAP), an international standard for sustainable soybean production.
Tran Trung Kien, Chairman and CEO of Viet Nhat Group, said the tilapia export chain is being developed as a long-term strategy involving businesses, farmers, technical partners and markets, with each link in the chain standardised to deliver consistent product quality for international markets. Ngo Minh Ket, Business Director of BaiYang VN Food Co., Ltd., presented the companies' approach to building the export-oriented supply chain.
Doan Quoc Khanh, Director of Aquaculture Technology at Viet Nhat Group, said the group's technical team works directly with farmers on pond environment management, broodstock selection, feed efficiency, disease control and productivity, alongside regular workshops on aquatic animal health and disease prevention.
