Bangladesh signs off 50,000 tonnes wheat imports
A cabinet panel in Bangladesh gave a go signal for 50,000 tonnes of wheat imports at a rate of BDT22.52 (US$0.28) a kg.
New Delhi-based Emmsons International Ltd became the lowest bidder in a tender by the Directorate General of Food. The government will buy the wheat at US$273.73 a tonne.
The Bridges Division said the cost shot up as earth at the yards were washed away by waves.
