Ukraine's meat production down in May

In May, Ukraine's meat output in live weight fell by 25.1% or 64,600 tonnes compared with April, to 192,800 tonnes, the State Statistics Committee said.

Production of meat by private farms shrank by 49.4% or by 66,000 tonnes in May, compared with April, to 67,600 tonnes. Specialised farms reduced meat production rose by 1.1% or 1,400 tonnes to 125,200 tonnes.

In May 2010, meat production grew by 12.5% or 21,400 tonnes, compared with May 2009.

In January-May 2010, meat production went up by 7.6% or 82,300 tonnes, compared with January-May 2009, to 1,160,600 tonnes.
