Second shipment of contaminated beef from Brazil discovered in Norway

Two weeks after having discovered Salmonella Newport in frozen beef imports from Brazil, the Norwegian Food Control Authority has found yet another contaminated shipment.

On May 23, Salmonella Newport was identified in a 12 kg sample of frozen boneless beef that arrived in Oslo from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Not only is this the second time that Salmonella contamination has been found in Brazilian frozen beef, but is also the second time that the contaminated sample was part of a shipment that was declared Salmonella-free before leaving Brazil.
