Marfrig Group and supermarket chain, Carrefour, have signed a new agreement that will allow the latter to sell Marfrig-based meat products to consumers in Brazil, according to reports.
These products will be processed at the Marfrig plant based in the Brazilian city of Tangara da Serra, Mato Grosso state.
Marfrig Group tracks its beef products from its point of origin to the final retail location, according to the news site.
Brazilian consumers can now buy meat products from farms that comply with strict social and environmental production rules, said Maurice Voivodic, executive secretary, Institute for Agricultural and Forest Management and Certification (Imaflora).
Marfrig Group received the Rainforest Alliance certification recently, considered a marketing advantage for its products.
