Philippines' Board of Investments approves new RCB Poultry Farm project

The Philippines' Board of Investments (BOI) has approved a new PHP 118.5 million (~US$2.18 million; PHP 10 = US$0.18) RCB Poultry Farm project in in South Cotabato, a province in the Soccsksargen region in Mindanao, that will boost chicken supply in that region, the Philippine News Agency reported.

The BOI said the project has the capacity to produce 3.36 million kg of broiler chicken per year.

RCB Poultry Farm will use modern poultry farming technology that will benefit the growth and health of broiler chickens while saving money on livestock feed, water, and energy.

Ramon Lopez, the Trade Secretary and Chairman of the BOI, said the board is supported the domestic poultry sector by approving this innovative broiler chicken farm project.

He said the BOI will continue to pursue their goal of attracting more investments.

The new farm aims to reduce the risk of chicken meat supply disruptions while also managing inflation by increasing meat supply.

In the face of global supply disruptions and biosecurity risks, the project also aims to reduce reliance on imported chicken.

The new poultry farm in South Cotabato is expected to boost chicken production by up to 2.71% in the Soccsksargen region.

Chicken meat is the second most consumed meat in the Philippines, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority. Pork is the most consumed meat.
