US to maintain anti-dumping tariff on Vietnam catfish imports

The US International Trade Committee (ITC) on Tuesday (June 16) announced that anti-dumping duty on Vietnamese catfish imports will be maintained, said the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Catfish export value to the US - the biggest importer of Vietnamese catfish - soared by 60 percent to US$46 million during the past five months.

VASEP general secretary Truong Dinh Hoe said that the decision would not impact catfish export activities in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) reviews and adjusts tax rates for different enterprises annually and has removed the duty on some Vietnamese exporters.

After DOC's review early this year, Southern Fishery Industries Co. Ltd and Binh An Seafood Joint Stock Co. were approved to enjoy anti-dumping tax of zero percent, according to VASEP.

QVD Food Co. Ltd., Dong Thap, An Giang Fisheries Import and Export Joint Stock Company and Viet An Joint Stock Co. are imposed with the low tax rate of 0.52 percent.
