Hong Kong implements 21-day ban on poultry from Guangdong


Hong Kong has suspended for 21 days the import of live poultry and poultry products from Xinhui, Jiangmen in China's Guangdong.


The Food and Health Bureau implemented the suspension after confirmed cases of bird flu virus has been released by the Ministry of Agriculture.


The Guangdong Inspection & Quarantine Technology Center said that there is a live poultry farm seven kilometres from a registered exporter to Hong Kong.


The government explained that the farm's supply to the country is insignificant and it is not among the 18 farms affected with bird flu.
