Thailand hopeful over improved bird flu situation
Thailand's bird flu situation should improve in 2007 compared with last year, according to the Livestock Development Department.
However, the department's director-general, Pirom Srichan, warned that Prachin Buri, Suphan Buri, and Phichit provinces are among regions susceptible to bird flu outbreaks during this rainy season.
In response to the disease's threat, the department has conducted x-ray scans for bird flu on a regular basis, and plans to implement more effective measures to prevent outbreaks.
Due to the difficulty in predicting and controlling outbreaks, the department has called on provinces previously hit by the virus to closely monitor sick and dying poultry.
