Canada gains Mongolian market access for meat
Canada's exporters for beef, cattle, and swine, now have new market opportunities in Mongolia, according to Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz.
Several Canadian Food Inspection Agency export certificates have been approved, and Canada can now export to Mongolia live cattle, live swine, sheep and goats genetics, bovine genetics, porcine semen, day-old-chicks and hatching eggs, and meat products including all beef and beef products, Ritz said.
International Trade Minister Stockwell Day said Canada's decision to open a new embassy in Mongolian capital Ulaanbataar last year has paid dividends.
Canada is the second largest foreign investor in Mongolia and the existing strong commercial relationship in the mining sector is opening up opportunities for Canadian agricultural producers, Day said.
