Vietnam's Fisheries Exports Estimated At 1 Billion USD In Six Months

Vietnamese fisheries export turnover in the first six months of this year is estimated at only 1 billion USD, according to the Fisheries Ministry.

To fulfil the 2004 plan for 2.6 billion USD, the sector must earn a monthly average of about 260-280 million USD during the next six months.

Fisheries Minister Ta Quang Ngoc said the prospect for fisheries exports in the second half-year is good with encouraging signs of increases in the Japanese, Chinese and EU markets. The expansion of EU market, which demands high quality products, will bring more opportunities for Vietnamese aquatic products to enter other markets, said the minister.
