EFL AG-DATA: Philippines swine - Hog and piglet prices rise as repopulation accelerates (week ended June 12, 2026)

The Philippine swine market remained firm in the week, supported by ongoing herd recovery and stable consumer demand.
While African swine fever (ASF)-related challenges continue to affect production in some areas, supply growth remains gradual, preventing any significant increase in market availability. Demand from processors and traditional markets remained steady, while government-led repopulation and biosecurity initiatives continued to support industry confidence.
Fattening pig prices increased to ₱190–200/kg (US$3.36–3.54) from ₱188–198/kg (US$3.33–3.50) in the previous reporting period. Piglet prices also strengthened, rising from ₱4,700/head (US$83.19) to ₱4,900/head (US$86.73), reflecting continued restocking activity and improving producer sentiment.
The upward movement suggests that market supply remains relatively tight.
Prices are expected to stay firm in the coming weeks, although gains may moderate as herd rebuilding progresses.
