China permits 106 US poultry, pork plants to export products produced on or after June 12

China has approved another 106 US poultry and pork plants to export eligible products produced on or after June 12, Chinese Customs said in a notice on its website.

The decision comes after China and the United States agreed on a framework to revive their stalled trade truce reached during their Geneva talks last month.

The newly approved facilities include 83 poultry plants and 23 pork plants, according to a Chinese Customs database.

In March, China slapped tariffs of up to 15% on US$21 billion worth of US agricultural and food products, retaliating against US President Donald Trump's imposition of levies on Chinese exports.

Hundreds of US meat plants gained access to China under the 2020 Phase 1 trade deal brokered by Trump, but many lost their eligibility earlier this year.

While registrations for poultry and pork facilities have since been renewed, beef plant registrations remain listed as 'expired'.
