Qatar removes ban on chicken meat from Thailand
Qatar has lifted the 10-year importation ban on Thailand's chicken meat.
This was announced by Thailand's Foreign Ministry on Friday (Jun 7).
An agreement was reached between Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim during the former's visit to Qatar last month. The decision took effect on June 10.
Qatar imposed a ban on imports of Thai chicken meat in 2003 after the outbreak of the avian influenza in Thailand.
The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has confirmed that no avian flu virus had been found in Thailand for more than a year.
