Trouw Nutrition and Selko® to present advanced modelling platform, share research findings at European Symposium on Poultry Nutrition

Trouw Nutrition and Nutreco's feed additives brand, Selko®, will be presenting at Stand #11 during the European Symposium on Poultry Nutrition (ESPN), on June 21-24 in Rimini, Italy.
Representatives from both organisations will share information about modelling tools and study data that help make poultry production more efficient and profitable.
During the event, Trouw Nutrition's team will share information on how it can support farmers' precision nutrition journey through the advanced modelling capabilities it brings to poultry production. Additionally, an oral presentation will introduce the company's recently updated advanced broiler growth model.
Selko will also share research on nutritional strategies to support flocks' performance and farmers' bottom lines. Visitors will learn how science-based nutrition can help mitigate challenges such as high stocking density (HSD) stress and enteric health issues.
"Maintaining reproductive performance, managing the challenges of HSD production environments and controlling diet costs are objectives shared by producers around the globe," said Peter Smid, Selko's technical commercial manager. "The studies shared at ESPN show that science-based nutrition can help producers manage the health and performance of their flocks as well as their business."
Trouw Nutrition to spotlight advanced nutritional modelling
At the stand, Trouw Nutrition will highlight its advanced nutritional models, which help poultry producers implement precision feeding practices to reduce feed costs, optimise livestock performance and reduce the environmental footprint of poultry production.
The team will share the latest developments and innovation around poultry models, including the most recent innovation in Trouw Nutrition's model portfolio: an app to determine input requirements, calculate expected responses and optimise nutritional recommendations based on the production situation.
The Trouw Nutrition team will also give an oral presentation, delving deeper into its recently updated advanced broiler growth model, which helps poultry producers fine-tune bird performance targets to meet their markets' varying demands. The team will share how this model is used to optimise body weight and feed conversion ratio in broilers reared under thermoneutral or heat stress conditions.
Visitors to Stand #11 can view info on a broiler chicken trial that evaluated TNIBetain as an economical way to meet birds' Met+Cys requirements and maintain growth performance at a lower cost compared to other nutritional approaches. The team will also share information on how poultry diets can be modelled to fine-tune the energy requirements for laying hens in cage or cage-free environments, and the factors that influence amino acid requirements.
Selko to spotlight science-based nutrition
Selko® Feed Additives will share findings from studies that address persistent questions in poultry production. For example, while the harm posed by sulphate sources of trace minerals is well known, organic trace minerals typically have presented a much steeper price, often requiring producers to compromise on performance to maintain economics.
The team will share a study comparing the efficacy of more cost-effective Selko IntelliOpt copper, manganese and zinc trace minerals with organic trace minerals. The study measures the impact on broiler breeder egg production, egg weight and eggshell quality.
As sustainability remains a top priority for producers in many parts of the globe, the team from Selko will share information on how replacing inorganic trace minerals in the broiler diet with a synergistic blended solution (IntelliOpt) can support broiler health and performance when fed at much lower levels than inorganic trace minerals.
Another research study that will be shared with visitors at the stand will explain the mode of action used by a blend of organic acids (Selacid® Green) to mediate the inflammatory responses associated with HSD-induced stress while maintaining growth performance.
Findings evaluate the additive's ability to restore the disordered gut's microbial composition and manage interactions induced by HSD. The research also looks at how the additive aids in elevating short-chain fatty acid production to regulate signalling pathways involved in inflammatory responses occurring in the bird.
