Perdue ships more Virginia soy to China
Perdue Agribusiness is enlarging its exports of US Virginia soy to China.
Dandong Port Group has agreed to buy up to 550,000 tonnes of soy from this year's crop.
Dandong bought about 275,000 tonnes under the original agreement signed in September 2011.
Gov. Bob McDonnell announced the agreement's expansion on Monday (June 11) in a news release. He says the agreement was signed last month during a ceremony in New York City.
McDonnell says the companies also have a new agronomic cooperation agreement to help Dandong improve the quality of animal feed stock.
Perdue Agribusiness operates an export terminal in Chesapeake.
China is one of Virginia's top customers for soy, along with Morocco, Canada, Switzerland, Egypt and Cuba.
