More pigs, less cattle in Ukraine
Ukraine's pig numbers has risen 10.4 percent compared to a year earlier to 8.4 million heads, the State Statistics Committee reported Wednesday (Jun 13).
Meanwhile, poultry numbers remained stable at 178.1 million, a 0.1 percent increase over last year.
Cattle numbers however, fell 7 percent to 6.83 million.
The number of cattle in the country on June 1 was 6.83 million, a fall of 6.95% compared with June 1 2006.
While Russia has seen more investments mainly in poultry, Ukraine has seen more investments in both pork and poultry in recent years.
