Selko webinar explores Salmonella from feed to food

 

Selko, the feed additives brand of Nutreco, is hosting a feed-to-food safety webinar on June 20, Thursday 10 a.m.

 

Pieter Steyn, global technical commercial manager at Selko, and Marcos Rostagno, R&D director, will join "Salmonella from Feed to Food, Prepare for the Unexpected", a moderated conversation exploring Salmonella risk factors at the farm and feed production facility and presenting management practices to help support safety in raw ingredients, feed and food.

 

The one-hour webinar will discuss complex factors in the current environment that are contributing to Salmonella challenges for stakeholders across the value chain. Topics covered will include:

 

    - What challenges are elevating Salmonella pressures in 2024;

 

    - How Salmonella affects livestock production among species and in various production environments;

 

    - Raw material ingredients in animal feed that pose special concern;

 

    - Early warning signs that may indicate an issue on the farm or at the feed mill;

 

    - The importance of knowing the health status of previous flocks/herds on a farm;

 

    - Farm-level and feed mill practices that can help keep Salmonella out of the feed-to-food chain;

 

    - Implementing a holistic strategy across the farm/feed facility support feed-to-food-safety;

 

    - Participants' questions

 

"The Salmonella pressure on a farm or feed mill is dynamic making it hard to know what to expect next," said Morvarid Rezvani, global programme manager at Selko and moderator for the webinar. "The conversation will consider how a holistic strategy can help keep counts under control and ultimately support safety across the feed-to-food chain. As Salmonella presents a global threat, two webinar sessions will be held to complement participants' time zones.
