Poland reports five ASF outbreaks in 2024
The Polish agriculture ministry announced that five outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) in swine have been detected this year, Reuters reported.
The outbreaks have been identified in four regions: Lubelskie, Warminsko-Mazurskie, Wielkopolskie, and Zachodniopomorskie.
In 2023, 14 European Union Member States reported ASF cases. Croatia and Romania accounted for 96% of these outbreaks, reporting a total of 1,929 cases. ASD was detected for the first time in Sweden and Croatia and spread to new regions in Italy. Greece, after a two-year hiatus, reported new cases as well.
