More than 100,000 birds in Netherlands affected by avian influenza outbreaks
Two new possible outbreaks of avian influenza have been reported in the Netherlands, according to an update from Wageningen University and Research (WUR).
Both reports come out of Hierden. The first involves 100,000 meat ducks and was reported on June 9. The second involves 6,000 meat ducks and 8,300 laying hens, also reported on the same day.
Another potential outbreak involves 7,000 meat ducks. It was reported on June 7.
This year has been particularly hard on Dutch poultry producers as infections have been reported with regularity since October 26, 2021.
