China's shrimp export up in April 

China exported 994 tonnes of shrimp meat valued at US$5.95 million in April 2007, according to China's General Administration of Customs.

This is up from the 882 tonnes in March.

China's shrimp exports have been falling sharply. Last year's shrimp exports was 17,508 tonnes while 2005's shrimp export was 42,865 tonnes.

Export in January-April reached 3,924 tonnes valued at US$ 22.6 million, down 48.2 percent and 43.2 percent respectively on-year.
